The AmsOil World of Outlaws took the track at Cedar Lake this past week, however, only 4 drivers made the show. AmsOil officials saw fit to run the race no matter how many drivers the saw in the pits. "No matter what the race will go on," said one of the top officials.
During hotlaps at the beginning of the night, Chase saw the fastest time of the evening with a 10.365. Ray was hot on his heels with a 10.439. Track officials said the track was fast and great all around for the drivers to race on. When the track was closed for driver's meeting, work begin in the pits with each driver's crew to have there cars set up for qualifying. The field took there 2 timed laps around the 3/8 mile track and Chase once again sought after the top spot putting down quick time for the night with a 10.437. Final preparations began on the cars as there would be no heats or bmains for tonights event due to car count. The drivers were pushed out on the track to get there 900+ horsepower cars rolling on the track for the main event of 30 laps.
The green flag took the air as Chase took a great lead pulling away from the field by over 2 seconds. However a malfunction with his throttle cable sent him to a crawl. Ray took the lead on lap 18 and never looked back. Aaron passed Chase for 2nd has he was still trying to get his throttle to work in the car. Ray took home the victory of the 1 race of the season. Aaron took home 2nd and Chase came back to finish 3rd with the most laps lead. Bobby did not finish the race due to a mechanical issue not known of at the time and finsihed 4th.
The AmsOil World of Outlaws will be traveling to Husets Speedway next Tuesday night for round 2 of 10 of AmsOil World of Outlaws series.
